Eco-Man

Environmentally Friendly Music and Stories for the entire family.

Eco-Man is an original idea from Richard John McLaughlin of Bucks County PA.  Eco-Man has performed hundreds of concerts for thousands of children bringing his message of ecology through his interactive musical show.  He is a self-taught musician that combines his talent for writing catchy music with meaningful words about the environment and peace.  He has been playing the guitar for over 35 years.

Children play along with instruments or dance with scarves at the

Arbor Day Celebration in Newtown.

His music:

Eco-Man combines original songs along with classic children's songs. His musical message is about ecology, "the study of living and non-living things and how they interact within their environment."  In his concerts he brings instruments for the children to play along with him. He also brings scarves for the children to dance with him.

His Stories:

First one published!

His first article was published in The Saturday Evening Post's Humpty Dumpty Magazine,  in the March/April 2009 edition.  It is called "The Perfect Stick."

Most of his stories help teachers and parents learn how to sensitize other children to special needs children. His stories teach children about empathy and compassion which leads to understanding

THE SKUNK WITH A STINKY ATTITUDE, is a manuscript of an anthropromorphic story about a skunk, Albert, that has emotional problems because his parents were killed when he was little.  All of the other animals make fun of him, and he responds to them with his stinky attitude.  It's not until Becky feels empathy and compassion for him that things start to change.  But, when tragedy strikes Albert everyone comes to help him and Albert begins to heal the emotional pain that causes him to act mean.

STANDING UP FOR KIM, is a manuscript about a second grade boy named Mark that stands up for a mentally challenged girl that is being hurt by a sixth grade bully.

Helping Communities

Through out my professional career I have involved students to various community projects. They include things like river clean up, stream bank restoration projects, and Habitat for Humanity.

Musicians On Call - Chilren's Hospital Of Philadelphia, (CHOP). I try to perform monthly for the children in the hospital.  It is a very rewarding program.  In November I was asked to take part in the development of a video to help at WXPN's 88.5 fundraiser for this program. To say the least the night was magical.  They to aired it for the first time at the fundraiser at the World Cafe' in Philadelphia at 6:30 on January 21, 2009.

Bucks to the TEXAS Bay - our school is taking a second community service trip to Galveston, Texas to help that community rebuild after the damages of Hurricane Gustav. We will be there from March 7 to March 14, 2009. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

Delaware River Clean-up.  Every year in May, over 50 students from area schools take part in a river clean up.  They help by removing tons of trash.  One year, in just 1/2 mile students found over 150 tires in the water by Life Island.

Bucks to the Bay: In March 2008,  I took 27 students and 5 chaparones from Solebury School, New Hope Pennsylvania went to Bay Saint Louis, Mississppi from March 8 to 15, 2008. They accomplished over $20,000.00 of labor.
